Welcome to the World of Zion, a distant planet that has been plagued by the destructive will of a creature called the Leviathan for centuries. He has fed off of the souls of men, and his fodder has become scarce. He now turns to Earth with an insatiable hunger. Only a woman from Earth who discovers a divine inner power can challenge Earth’s Apocalyptic Fate.
In Conquest: Rise of the Fifth Horseman, author Richard M. Mulder dabbles in potentially blasphemous themes by calling certain Christian beliefs into question. He introduces his main villain The Leviathan by creating a series of 50 bible-like verses that he uses as headers for each chapter. These chapters purportedly come from the Book of Methuselah, an Apocryphal work of fiction that was created by author Richard M. Mulder. Here is a short sample of these Apocryphal verses:
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void. And the Leviathan was upon the face of the deep: the darkness that doth corrupt all life and desireth to obliterate all light…
– Methuselah 3:1 –
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the deep and fought back the darkness of the Leviathan. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness…
– Methuselah 3:2 –
And God made the firmament. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the light from the darkness, that they might ward off the darkness of the Leviathan and give light unto the earth: and it was so…
– Methuselah 3:3 –
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to prevent the darkness of the Leviathan from taking its desired hold upon the earth…
– Methuselah 3:4 –
These verses lay the groundwork for the first installment of Richard M. Mulder’s SciFan™ Series. He creates an alternate version of history where The Leviathan is God’s greatest enemy. At the creation of the Earth, God created the Firmament as a protective shield to prevent The Leviathan from being able to consume the souls of mankind.
On a distant planet God had long ago created an intellectual race of beings called the Malakhim who served as His angels. These Malakhim were ranked according to their loyalty, and the highest order of Malakhim were called the Morning Stars. One of these Morning Stars, namely Lucifer, succumbed to the influence of the Leviathan and allowed his soul to be consumed. A war ensued, and Lucifer dragged away his loyal followers, which consisted of a third of all Malakhim.
Lucifer then became Satan. He and his followers were cast out of the presence of God, and became known as the Watchers. Having been cast to Earth, these Watchers saw the fair and beautiful daughters of men, and desired them. Taking many of them as wives, these women conceived… however all of them died during childbirth. The neanderthal children of the Watchers were giants, and couldn’t be controlled. These children became known as the Nephilim, and they were a scourge against men.
After Cain killed his brother Abel he and his family were cast out of the presence of Adam and Eve, and were forced to live in the barren land of Nod to the far south of Eden. Adam and Eve had many more children, and likewise so did Cain. Generations passed, and contentions were passed on from fathers to children. Two kingdoms rose up to fight each other, namely the Kingdom of Seth and the Kingdom of Cain. In time, neither kingdom was more righteous than the other.
In the seventh generation of Seth, a righteous man named Enoch was born. He tried to reform the Kingdom of Seth to become righteous, but failed miserably. Instead, he gathered as many followers as he could and escaped to the undiscovered lands in the East. Together, they established the Kingdom of Enoch with the capital city of Atlantis. His followers consisted of all the inventors of the world, and they began building a great machine beneath the city using advanced technology that God had revealed to Enoch.
Meanwhile, the kingdoms of Seth and Cain were being slaughtered by the Nephilim. The two wicked kingdoms decided to set aside their differences, and join forces to fight their common enemy. This united front gave them much needed leverage, and eventually they discovered that God had granted a special protection against the Nephilim to the newly-formed Kingdom of Enoch. This made them extremely angry, so together the two older kingdoms decided to go to war against the Kingdom of Enoch.
As the two kingdoms surrounded the perimeters of Enoch and waged war, God instructed Enoch to activate the great machine they had been building. In a major flash of light, all the lands of Enoch disappeared – leaving behind a massive crater. To this day, even modern scholars don’t recognize that there is a large missing chunk of land from ancient Pangaea.
Among the survivors, rumors swept the land that “Zion hath fled!” and “The Great City of Atlantis hath sunk!” But in fact, the lands had been transported to the distant World of Zion where they reside to this day.
God then endowed the son of Enoch, whose name was Methuselah, with ancient powers of the Malakhim. Methuselah became the First Seraph with magical abilities to transport between each world. Every 500 years a new Seraph awakens, commissioned to protect both the Earth and Zion from the influences of the Leviathan. The last four Seraphim have also carried another title: The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse.
The Fourth Horseman however, also known as Death, has shirked his commission and has allowed the Leviathan to take its desired hold upon the World of Zion – leaving it a desolate dystopian wasteland. The Fourth Horseman is now making preparations to destroy the protective Firmament surrounding the Earth.
But the Fifth and Final Horseman has just Awakened.
What will become of Earth’s fate?
